What is a horoscope or birth chart?
The position of sun and other planets in the sky at the time of birth,as viewed from the birthplace is the birthchart. The birthplace, birthdate and birthtime fixes the lagna/Ascendant.
For example, if Mr.x is born today(19.06.2016) now(08hours,31minutes,06seconds) in Coimbatore, India, just look at the sky. If you take a photo of it (if possible), that is the birthchart of Mr.X as given below:
(Roman letter I refers to Ascendant or Lagna)
Hence we say, Astrology is a pure science.
